Raam Navami Greetings !

Chinmaya Mission New York

Dear Members of the Chinmaya Mission New York Family,

Pranaam and Hari Om!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a joyous and prosperous Shri Raam Navami!

Millions of Hindus around the world celebrate and observe this day as the day Shri Raamji would have taken Avataar to Protect the world from Evil forces. During such a period where Navraatri would have culminated into Raam Navami we must pause and analyze the significance of this occurrence.

Navraatri symbolizes nine nights where Durga Maa would have destroyed the darkness symbolic of our own ignorance of knowing our true nature, the Self, which is Truth Existence and Perennial Bliss. What veils the Self? What keeps us away from the fulfillment we deserve in life? The Shat Reepu (Six Enemies) of the human existence being Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachment, False Pride and Jealousy. When we would have destroyed these "demons" in our life, we would have paved the way for the light of Knowledge which is Symbolic of Shri Raama. Raam Navami, the appearance of Shri Raam symbolizes hope, courage and righteous actions that allows us to cultivate enough Chitta Shuddhi (mental purity) to perform Atma Vichaara or Self Inquiry.

May Shri Raam be born in our hearts today and everyday as the power that destroys our low tendencies and false values as we move ahead as one family bound together by love and respect on the path of God Realisation.

Jai Shri Raam!

With Prem and Om,
Br. Arun Gossai
